This charger replaces a 30 year old charger. The electronics that show the charge level work as advertised. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the clamp springs need to be a bit stronger. Little problem. Overall, the charger works as advertised.

I waited a bit to write a review to test it. Easy to connect and decent charging speed. I've seen others say it turns off after a certain amount of time. At first I thought the same thing, but even if you don't hear it, the device keeps charging and turns off when fully charged.

Charger works as advertised. As with any charger, it is important to remove any latent surface charge from the battery so that the charger can read the accurate voltage. I found this charger to read battery charge accurately. If you find it was say 70% while charging, disconnect and reconnect and it says 100% is surface charge. Turn on the headlamp for 30 seconds before plugging in the charger for the second time and the readings will be accurate.

This charger will burn your battery. I have various tractors and vehicles that are not used regularly, connected this charger and it charged the battery perfectly, the problem was that it would not stop charging, I heard my battery make a gurgling gas noise, connected it another on, the same happened to the battery. I attached the device to the Optima Red Top battery in my Jeep. The display showed 50% charge and started charging up to 62%. It stayed at 62% for over an hour. I turned it off, unplugged it, plugged it back in and it showed 100% charge. I then turned off the unit, unplugged it and plugged it back in and it showed 62 again and then charged to 68% and then stopped at that percentage. Love the simplicity of this charger. I'm glad there aren't any slide switches that cause timing clicks when selecting high-current modes. This device waits for you to switch to the desired mode and then begins providing charging current. I have charged my motorcycle (AGM) and standard lead-acid car batteries with no problems.
