Good Product - Smoke Detector & Fire Alarm

This product is well made, durable and easy to install. I used it to convert an ordinary door contact into a garage door contact. It's durable and there are many ways to mount it, allowing it to work in a variety of configurations.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Vulgarity

You don't need ferrous metal between the contacts

The mounting plate is easy to modify if you have aluminum cutting tools. I have adapted these contacts for overhead drum/roller doors with a thick rubber bump where the door meets the ground. They were easy to connect and worked great for my application. It all depends on your ability to adapt this element to your application or situation.

  • Nice to use

Works great with the DSC 18xx series.

This is a simple wired door sensor with an armored flexible wire that can be fitted as required. I mounted the magnet to the garage door and the sensor unit to the back of the rail with a simple wooden bracket I made from scrap wood. It was wired directly to the DSC 1864, just like the DSC instructions say the wired zone should work and 'just works'. I am completely satisfied and judging by the build quality it will probably last long after the house collapses.

The only way out when the garage door alarm goes off

A bit pricey but worth the price thanks to the quality metal construction and Honeywell quality. The switch works flawlessly and offers a large two-inch air gap when needed. There is another similar garage door contact switch that is cheaper but the switch body is made of plastic. For a high-traffic area or a place where heavy objects are moving, the metal body of this Honeywell version is much better. For a difference of €5, that's no problem.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Almost OK

Reliable and well built top contact

My alarm company installed the wrong door contact for my garage (plain plastic door magnet on my top door). After the plastic fell off I decided to buy it as a replacement. Easy to install and reassemble. (web search). Sturdy and well built all weather construction, just what I really need for a wet and dusty garage. I've had no problems with the unit since installation and it saved me a service charge from the alarm company.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Almost never

Skip the cheaper plastic gauges and buy these instead

Like others here I've gone through several cheap plastic gauges where the inner tongue just stopped working. Save some energy in the future and spend a little more money on it. I couldn't use the included L bracket (wrong direction for my installation) so I removed the magnet bar from the bracket and just attached it directly to the door. Note: The package does not include screws/hardware. Specifications from box: Reed switch rating: 100 mA at 28 VDC. Current Make (Mark): 2 3/8" (60mm) Spacing…

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • No performance

Adding a Garage Door to an Alarm System

I wanted to have an indicator in my house that would tell me if the garage door was closed. They specifically sell items that attach to the door and transmit to a device plugged in somewhere in the house. But I didn't want any other gadget. So I connected two of these to my alarm system and now I not only know if the garage door is open, but also which one (I have an alphanumeric display). Also, my garage is now secured with a security system, and all for less than half the cost of a standalone

Pros
  • Annual Trial
Cons
  • Compatibility

Works well with my alarm DSC 1832

Installed in the top center of the garage door, it works well. I set it up so that the green light on my control panel doesn't come on until the garage door is closed, so I can see at a glance if the door is open or closed (assuming no other zones are open). The downside to this is that the garage door has to be closed when I set the alarm, which is a bit of a hassle. I can install it remotely over the internet, so that's an option as far as I remember. Installation was easy, the magnet is…

Worked very well with my security system

I ordered this as a security sensor to install on my side gate. It worked really well - a couple of small lead anchors/screws were used to attach the switch to the concrete block and self-tapping screws to attach the magnet mount to the wrought iron rail. There is at least two feet of flexible wire connected to the switch and eight inches of wire at the end. More than enough to fit in a weatherproof box. I have a gap of about an inch and a quarter, no problems at all. I'm going to paint the…

  • Stylish and modern design
