Mining pools are groups of cooperating miners who agree to share block profits in proportion to the contributed mining hash power. Slush was the first mining pool and currently mines around 6% of all blocks. Slush is probably one of the best and most popular mining pools, despite not being one of the largest.

Pros

Slush Pool enables you to mine Namecoin along with Bitcoin via merged mining feature. The Namecoin value is much lower than Bitcoin's (currently close to 3 $).
