I hate when a product smells so bad it can't be kept at home. It has a terrible chemical smell. But I wanted to replace my old Altra Lone Peak waterproof high-top shoes (which never smelled), so I persevered. Unfortunately, size 11 only fits my narrower left foot. On the right, larger foot, the boot breaks in the wrong place, injuring the leg. My old Altra Lone Peaks were 10.5 and much more comfortable. I thought they might be a bit small so this time I ordered 11. To solve the foot problem, I…

    Pros
    • Bought these as a present for my husband. He loves her. Light but comfortable like running shoes.
    Cons
    • I overpronate in these shoes and they have no arch support. I can't clean it either.

Quality is rubbish! good for me

These photos are after wearing 10 times. A mix of hiking and trail running. Bought primarily for hiking and trial trail running. That being said, I've worn them less than 10 times since I bought them on December 30th and have since noticed that one of the lace loops/ties broke off after a trail run. I took pictures and reported it to ALTRA and they said they couldn't honor their warranty because they didn't buy directly from their store. These shoes weren't cheap and had to withstand the…

    Pros
    • Can't say anything about durability, too new.
    Cons
    • Limited color options available

Just do Lone Rush 4 again

Dear Altra, just remake Lone Peak 4 and all its variations and don't change anything. They were great shoes. The new midsole isn't listed as a running shoe so I'm hesitant to buy it because of the design around the ankle. I tried to order a pair of sneakers but the size was too big which was a problem for this brand from the start. I was originally a size 8 and they fit great. 4 was a full size too small... and it fit perfectly. Size 7 is sold out on most websites. At least in the colors that I

    Pros
    • They run a bit small, but one size bigger fit great. The quality is really very good.
    Cons
    • Heavy and bulky design

So comfortable but not durable (disappointing)

I really love Altra, such a comfortable shoe. When I first bought these all weather boots I was a bit nervous about the durability of what I was going to put them through. I am very sad. The seams on the front of each shoe are completely separated. The side part is now also separated from the sole. I've been wearing these shoes for less than a month! Altra needs to figure out how to make them more durable for more intensive use. If you drive a lot of miles or plan on wearing them for everyday…

    Pros
    • I'm done, take care of it
    Cons
    • My feet got wet after 4 uses in very light snow. Very disappointed considering the price. I would not recommend them.

Good if you buy specifically for waterproof

For me these are not the most comfortable altras due to the waterproof liner. The lining seam runs all the way back at the heel, which can be annoying with thin socks (I wore Darn Tough socks and couldn't see the seam). I am very happy with them. By the way, I've been wearing Altras for many years and I'm ALWAYS satisfied with the durability. People seem intent on forcing Altra to scale up their shoes until they're as uncomfortable as other brands.

    Pros
    • One of the best shoes ever. I like walking in them.
    Cons
    • Suela Resbaladiza

    Revainrating 5 out of 5

    Incredibly comfortable.

Advantages: - Total toe freedom. Nothing is squeezed, no hallux valgus is encouraged and the foot can imagine and relax. Even the big toe can only really move when walking, while it is actually too squeezed in normal shoes for that. Fantastic walking and running feeling like on clouds. I have NEVER had such a comfortable running experience. Even when worn for a long time, the foot does not tire as with other shoes. - Natural zero position: Because there is no heel, the entire musculoskeletal…

    Pros
    • I will only buy boots in the future. They are perfect for my wide feet!
    Cons
    • Not suitable for long-distance runs

    Revainrating 5 out of 5

    Better than expected

I'm not sure I can accurately describe how comfortable these boots are. Imagine tying a marshmallow to your feet and then folding it into clouds. This one is soft. I didn't buy them for 3 days, cross country marathon. I bought them because I'm on my feet 12 hours a day on concrete floors. So for my purposes they are perfect. I'm sure they will be good on both dirt roads and bike paths. There is no time break. Take them out of the box, lace them up and go.

    Pros
    • Wear these at least 5 miles twice a week and my feet don't get overly sweaty, you don't feel the sharp stones.
    Cons
    • Poor customer service from the manufacturer

    Revainrating 5 out of 5

    Very comfortable tourist

At this point in my life, I only wear Altra. I have quite a few different models and I always wear sneakers. I usually wear a 10.5 but for those who hike I went up a size to 11 to be able to wear thicker socks. This red pair I bought are so comfortable that I ordered a second pair in gray while I last. They have become my everyday shoes and my only complaint is that the tread is a bit noisy on hard surfaces.

    Pros
    • Take half a size bigger. Once you put them on you will never want to go back to any other shoes.
    Cons
    • Uncomfortable fit

    Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good shoes. I'm still trying to find the right size

See photo for comparison with same size Solomon. This shoe has a very wide toe but is much shorter than other brands. I'm still trying to find the right size. It looks like it would be 1.5 times my usual size in hiking boots.

    Pros
    • The removable insole makes it easy to set up and clean
    Cons
    • Poor insulation in the cold season.

    Revainrating 5 out of 5

    Lightweight, durable, no complaints!

Altra CRUSHED runner/tourist. I run 10km in them three times a week and they are holding up great! I run on very rocky ground and don't feel any stones, although they are still light and fast. I like that they are weatherproof. As for the sizing, I'd guess too big if you're unsure.

    Pros
    • The sleek, modern design makes it a stylish choice for trail running and hiking.
    Cons
    • Slippery on rocky terrain

    Revainrating 3 out of 5

Poor quality control (broken on first try)

Really convenient and very unhappy QC. I was dying to wear them for a day trip to test not only the waterproof lining but also the comfort, but I couldn't. As far as I could tell. They are very comfortable but as the left boot broke before I finished lacing the first time I can't say for sure. I will upgrade once my replacement arrives and will definitely check to make sure that doesn't happen on the trails. I would also like to point out that I have a popping noise that others have complained…

    Pros
    • The anatomical design ensures a natural and comfortable fit.
    Cons
    • Limited traction on slippery surfaces

    Revainrating 2 out of 5

Too narrow, makes a loud popping noise when walking

i wanted to love her I have several Altras and it was exciting to have a few that I could reliably use in the snow. They are too narrow in width. Much narrower than my Lone Peak 6, 5s or 4s. Why? Also every step. A loud popping sound can be heard at the top of the sock as the waterproof liner flexes and folds. He also rubs his leg there. It's terrible. I don't know how QC approved this design. I tried pushing my foot forward or backward, loosening or tightening it. Nothing gets rid of the loud…

    Pros
    • The sticky and durable outsole material offers reliable traction on any surface
    Cons
    • Freezes at extremely low temperatures

Reference elsewhere: ALTRA AL0A4VQH Lone Peak All-WTHR Mid Trail - Tennis Court for Man, Negro - El product, in the same place as seen in the photo, the image has a different color.

    Pros
    • Stylish and versatile design goes well with casual and sports wear.
    Cons
    • Insufficient breathability causes blisters

    Already apart :( Revised!

***Edited 7th Nov 22, I've added one more star because although they fell apart from wear and tear shortly after purchase, that's the only problem and not a big one. The shoes are still waterproof and surprisingly I haven't worn the tread on the bottom after over a year of use. The only other issue is the toe box is not as big as the other models but still big enough for me**** I love the Altra and this particular boot but after wearing them for less than a week, the toe box began to diverge. I

    Pros
    • Ya había used Lone Peak, pero estos MID sirven muy bien para la montaña.
    Cons
    • Hacking takes too long

    Revainrating 3 out of 5

Extra wide fit and super soft sole

I've read a lot about Altra Lone Peak being very popular with long haul travelers so I had to try them myself. I went with a mid-rise model to keep dirt and water out, so I don't know if they're similar to what backpackers use. Altra is clearly aimed at the market for people with very wide feet. I have medium wide feet and they are too wide for me. Even after adding a 3mm factory insole, my feet slide from side to side on the side-sloping hills. I've been looking for hiking shoes, but they're…

    Pros
    • Mid-top construction provides additional ankle support.
    Cons
    • Non-removable insole

    Revainrating 2 out of 5

    Much narrower than older versions

This is my third pair of single peaks and I'm not sure what happened, they are much narrower than before. As you can see from the picture, the width difference is almost half a centimeter, although the new shoes are half a size larger. Altra has always advertised having a much larger toe box, but that doesn't seem to be the case. more, at least with these boots.

    Pros
    • Roomy enough for most foot shapes and sizes
    Cons
    • Limited cushioning in the sole

    Revainrating 1 out of 5

    Useless guarantee: my review

First hike. One of the tips worked. I thought it was definitely a guarantee. They said it was normal wear and tear. Why is the other well?

    Pros
    • Available in a variety of sizes and colors to suit all tastes
    Cons
    • Not recommended for flat feet

    Revainrating 2 out of 5

These shoes are a step backwards (pun intended)

Finding the perfect hiking shoe is a bit like searching for the holy grail. Thought I'd have it with the Lone Peak Mid 3. Everything you could want in a lightweight hiking shoe. I was nervous when they released 4 but luckily that was good too. I don't think it's an improvement over 3 though. Then came 5. I was sure if 4 didn't disappoint, then 5 wouldn't disappoint either. I was wrong. Five is terrible. Aside from having to get rid of the sling and gaiter hooks, the size is too small and they…

    Pros
    • Provides excellent arch support
    Cons
    • Causes leg pain after prolonged use

Altra is still the king of off-road shoes!

I really like the Altra hiking shoes, they are super light and very comfortable with a wide toe box and zero drop outsole. Haven't tried the waterproof aspect yet but I'm sure it will be excellent too.

    Pros
    • The waterproof upper keeps feet dry in wet weather.
    Cons
    • Poor production of some batches

    Revainrating 3 out of 5

Untenable. Go to Salomon if you want something permanent.

The waterproof 3/4 upper only lasted about 3-4 months. I have the same model of regular fit shoes and both had the soles separated from the upper in less than 6 months. I will buy the last pair of Altera. Wanted to like them as they are comfortable for me.

    Pros
    • The low-profile design minimizes the risk of tripping or twisting your ankle.
    Cons
    • Seams come undone easily
