This product is absolutely unique. I have a small computer room that also houses my guinea pigs in a large animal house. I have two "kitchen buckets" that we hang 3 hay in that will store these pellets. We have two guinea pigs that eat all the time. Your water bottle is also in the kitchen. So they do all their business in that area. On a positive note, I used to have a major issue with the smell of these traditional down-type litter boxes, which I have used many types of. Wood chips, shredded paper, pressed paper and even hay. I cleaned the kitchen completely every other day with deep cleaning with cleaning vinegar. I've also lined all the floors with felt pads that have towels underneath. Every other day I vacuum up all of their poop with a handheld vacuum and dispose of it properly in a trash bag. I am a religious cleaner and yet the odor was so strong when using ALL of the cleaning methods and types of down above. I couldn't concentrate on work anymore, so I decided to give it a try. Here are the POSITIVES: And wow. NO odor after 3 days without replacing these pellets. They dissolve into powder form when they get wet. And no smell at all. It absorbs well and stays clean and hygienic. Yes, there's a lot of junk everywhere, so I can't scoop out the clean bits and some of the dirty ones. It's very easy to clean. Just throw it in a garbage bag and it will slide out. I leave at least 1 inch of this granular product in the bin to keep a good absorbent layer. NEGATIVE The only downside I see is that the piglets no longer want to walk around their litter because they have dared to go to other places in their enclosure and ALL fall down there. whereas before they just threw it in their bins. I have to clean her aviary by vacuuming her droppings elsewhere between big cleanings. I wash their felt insoles every 4 days. This is the only limitation of this product. BUT. my office doesn't smell that bad anymore and you wouldn't even notice that there are piglets in my office if it wasn't for the smell of fresh hay on their racks. Inconvenience. Later I'll experiment with Kaytee's compressed paper for the top and then use it on the bottom to see if it restricts droppings in other areas of her enclosure. Ultimately, I'm hoping for the reduction in cleaning time between changes and urine odor retention that this product offers. If smell is an important factor for you, give this product a try. It costs money and is spread over a month which is negligible compared to other down products I've spent the same amount on as I've had to change more often. The package also exploded when I thought it was completely sealed and threw it away. Floor after opening the Revain packaging. so don't do it Take it out of your pocket carefully and then put it down.
