Review on πŸ’» Plugable USB 2.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter | Fast & Reliable Connection | Windows, Chromebook, Linux Compatible by Jose Baldwin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The fastest speeds you've ever seen on Android. Haven't used it with anything else.

I've used this with a USB OTG cable with multiple plugs and charging on a number of Androids including a Nexus9 Nexus7 and a couple of SM based GNex I had laying around. Surprisingly, after about 20 speed tests with this gigabit adapter and an Asus ac66u router in 2x2 5GHz mode and nationwide tests, the Gilan USB2 adapter was on average 20-50% faster with about the same ping time. . At 2.4GHz or DualN frequencies, the results were nowhere near gigabit speeds. I don't know how often I'll be using this as AC is pretty fast (and especially handy) and I'll be getting a newer router with even faster 3x3 AC soon, but for non-AC devices you'll have to move in. The massive amount of data says that all your music and photos are on a 64GB SD card. I see the obvious benefit of using this adapter along with an OTG cable. One thing I noticed and it doesn't say anywhere to find in the settings that when you connect it to android it turns off wireless but nowhere says it's on ethernet now. Just a small issue that I didn't understand but didn't affect anything.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • Good but not great
