I don't know why everyone is so mad at this kayak rack. It works great. I'm sure the bars on my car would have helped secure the trunk and belts a little better if I didn't have them. but in general everything works. Easy to attach to the car. East to tie a kayak. It's definitely safer to have 2 people tighten the straps rather than just one, but I don't mind. I like that the kayak lays flat on my car and when I'm done I can just remove this stand from the car instead of holding something nasty on the roof. I didn't scratch the roof either, since the pads were actually made out of a rubber material, as opposed to the hard plastic that people keep complaining about.
