Ouch! It was hot!

The most important thing to know about cast iron cookware is that it can get very hot and retain heat for a long time. Because most cast iron products are cast in one piece, the handles can receive the same heat, and heat-resistant bushings or fixtures must be fitted to the handles to avoid accidental burns. In this case, those sleeves were too loose and tended to slide down, especially when exposed to heat. This factor must be taken into account in future projects.
