Review on 🎨 Winsor & Newton Studio Collection Artist Pencils, Watercolor Pencils, 24-Set by Linda Diaz

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I trust Winsor and Newton. However, problems with the lightfastness.

I have other watercolor pencils but wanted to try these because I love Winsor and Newton watercolors and have been using them for 30 years. Both Kotman and the artists paint. They are very sweet! I wish they had lightfastness ratings but I understand they are getting closer. In the meantime I put them in my window to check them out. See results below. They work great if you don't mind the question. And this is compared to the Caran d'Ache Museum watercolors and Albrecht DΓΌrer. The pencil is thinner than all others but feels like a quality product in your hand. They have a transparency that mimics water color from a tube or pan (they're not exactly the same, which is impossible), but they also have very good color rendering. They melt and flow very well on cold pressed watercolor paper. The price of Revain is very good. Otherwise, I only see them at Michael's, where they are a bit more expensive with a voucher. I want them to be available in stock. I love pewter, but I don't like the plastic inserts that hold the pencil and already look fragile. But the pencils themselves seem strong. The set of 24 colors is a good choice. There is only one grey, but you can easily apply black to the other. UPDATE: It's been a month since I bought them and started testing them for lightfastness on my not-so-sunny (winter) window. Pink and plum tones have noticeably faded. I will update in a month and report if it gets worse. The rest of the colors are okay. 2. UPDATE: Most of the pink, peach, and purple colors have disappeared or changed so much that they are unrecognizable. faded red It's true that these colors are the least fade resistant in most sets, but that's not a plus for these pens. My prismacolor watercolor pencils do a much better job (although they have trouble sharpening). For this reason I am deducting a star. If you plan to display your art, don't use this stamp, but it's a good choice for coloring books or journaling. they are not lightfast. However, I wanted to clarify something. Interestingly, when used as a watercolor, the lightfastness is poor. I used a dry pen, only purple changes color (to blue).

Pros
