I should have read the other comments before buying this collar! I have a 6 1/2 pound poodle puppy who was very upset with the tight mesh collar she arrived in. She scratched and scratched! The vet recommended a "satin collar" but I couldn't find anything that matched. So I decided to try this one. She required a 10 inch neck span, and I couldn't figure out how to adjust the fit for something so small for the life of me - and yet there was a double-thickness collar midway, as well as a very heavy brass loop. Luckily I like a challenge and have a lot of sewing gear - so I opened up a lot of the seams, removed the heavy brass ring and about 5 inches of collar material. I made the perfect padded collar with about 2 inches of extra length when she grows up. Now she is very happy, she doesn't even seem to know that she is wearing a collar. And I love the color - so in the end a very satisfying purchase.
