The kettle is functional and serves its purpose. I've been using it for about five months now. I liked that it had a thermometer but to be honest I never checked the temperature. Just waiting for the whistle to sound indicating the water is hot enough. Because of the handle of the thermometer, the interior is also a bit difficult to clean. Speaking of washing, the kettle's black color is quick to show grease that could be floating around from cooking, so I'll have to at least wipe it off. down regularly. That can be good or bad. While the lube wears on quickly and makes it a bit unsightly in my opinion, it makes me clean all the time. whereas the previous kettle we had didn't show any grease until it was quite thick and required a bit more effort to clean. I also noticed that there are a few light black spots on the underside which could indicate this isn't as heat resistant as it should be. I love that I can just pull the handle to open the spout cover instead of manually removing it and potentially burning myself. Overall I'm happy with the kettle, but I might choose a simpler version if I had to do it again.
