I have a larger bike rack for 4 bikes that is attached using a trailer hitch. It can also be swung down to open the trunk of my van. I love this bike rack, but the handy swivel feature makes it one of the most durable bike racks I've had. Even when everything is triple checked and tightened, it seems like the tiniest crack will ricochet. It doesn't really matter if I walk the short distance to the beach, but it always bothered me. I've read on their website and reviews that the rebound is normal, but I find it uncomfortable on long mountain hikes. Booked this hoping to reduce rebound and reflecting on our recent trip from Ventura to Yosemite. It worked great! I loaded 3 adult bikes (26″) and one kid bike (20″) and immediately noticed the difference even before I hit the highway. While this didn't completely eliminate the rebound, it's safe to say I'll never go on a long ride again without that extra strap. The only reason I would deduct a star (but not) is because I agree with previous reviewers that it's a little pricey for what you get. I think a price of $5-$6 would be a lot fairer for the materials you get for $1. The rest of the product works and works well. For peace of mind on the track I leave it.
