Review on Uni-Directional DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter - 4K UHD, Compatible with DisplayPort Source Devices by Reid Rickerson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Low profile, good price!

When I ordered monitors for work at home (like many others I work remotely) I forgot that the docking station that came with it has two displayport connectors at work . My monitors only support HDMI. The dock doesn't leave me much room between the two ports, so I need thin, low-profile adapters. The larger, bulkier ones I tried before buying Starware and reviewing here just didn't work. If I just needed an adapter to run a monitor, that would be fine. But like many other people, I use two monitors on my work laptop because I need a workstation that actually works for me. These Starware adapters are flimsy. No problem using them side by side on the docking station. They also work right out of the box; I didn't have to fiddle with downloads or anything like that before everything worked. After a few weeks of using these adapters I am still happy camping and would happily purchase more Starware branded products in the future if I ever need them. They're reasonably priced (they're less than half what I paid at a big store for the first couple of adapters I tried and then returned), they both worked great right out of the box, and I had to think of neither since I set up my workstation.

Pros
  • Plug and Play: Work just one way from DisplayPort (DP, DP++, DisplayPort++) enabled desktops or laptops to displays with HDMI input such as a monitor, projector or HDTV; Not available for round trip; No software or drivers required (PASSIVE adapter)
Cons
  • Big and bulky
