This product is deceptive. On the way to the car to test the 3 different steps we had ordered I pointed to this one and said I want it in my truck as it is clearly the best. It was heavier than the others, thicker, had texture on the steps, and was wider than the others. Well, looks aren't everything! This train took third place in our test. At first it was not clear how it came about without instructions. Let's face it, you won't pull out instructions if you're willing to use this when adjusting your luggage along the road if the strap fails. You may not even have instructions. We ended up folding it wrong and it got stuck, so we had to take a tool and knock it out of its stuck position. The other two we tested first snag on a latch, so we were confused by this one. Looks like you're setting him up. This leaves a step a few inches below the latch. While the other two tiers sit on top of the latch. If you really need the extra height, this option will fool you by a few inches. By sliding the hook through the top of the footpad, you save valuable space for your foot. This left us enough space to put a foot on it. It's similar to one of the others we've tested, but the second one we tested allowed us to lift a foot and a half, which gave us more stability. This one was also wider than my door, which worried me a bit that the rubber might slip off one side and end up knocking me off the step. All three tiers we tested hold up to 400 pounds. Ironically, this one is only $1 cheaper than our favorite model. It works, but I found the other two models to be my favorites. So 3 stars.
