This is the most amazing tool! I bought it to drill spot welds for some body work I have in mind; but have not used it for this purpose yet. Instead, I've used it to drill holes in everything from sheet metal to 3/8-inch mild steel. way through each side as the tool is 1/4 inch.) This tool requires far less force and time to drill a hole in thick steel and makes the hole much cleaner and rounder than twist drills. I haven't even compared it to a sheet metal step drill because, to be honest, step drills have sat in my desk drawer since I bought this RotaCut tool. I liked this instrument so much that I immediately bought a large fractional set. The only downside I see is that the knives are brittle, but that's a compromise for a tool that starts and stays very sharp. The knives are made of high-quality tool steel. I have found that with a slow speed and a steady hand there is no problem.
