This is a real horsehair feather duster. In my house they are used a lot; our original brush that came with our 25-year-old Kirby has finally turned to dust (ugh, bad pun, couldn't help it). I wanted original quality Kirby and got it with this brush. Yes, you pay more for it because it's made from horsehair and works well *for a long time*. If this thing lasts half as long as our original, I'll make money over buying cheaper duplicates. By the way, I bought two of these brushes; one for our Kirby and one for our NuTone home vacuum. The dusting brush that came with the NuTone vacuum system was a waste of nylon bristles, so we always stole a Kirby brush to use with the entire home system. No more; everyone has their own. These are also great shop cleaning brushes; I use one in my industrial vacuum to dust woodwork and clean workshop tools. Most vacuums come with crappy nylon bristle brushes that soon warp and the bristles curl inward. Don't let the "real Kirby" fool you; These brushes will fit *any* vacuum system with 1 1/4" nozzles and hoses. This is almost any household vacuum. These brushes will work with many more vacuum systems than your trusty Kirby.
