Review on πŸͺ‘ GCI Outdoor SitBacker Canoe Seat with Adjustable Back Support by James Hardy

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Decent seat, useless in some canoes

This is a well made seat and there is probably no better seat. However, for me it was in the back of a 16 foot Wenonah canoe that I rented for a week in border waters in Minnesota was useless. The narrowing of the stern meant that the SitBacker did not fully fit the seat of the canoe. It was difficult to position it so I was even able to get the seat back to an upright position. A few minor design changes could explain this general problem. I don't know why the manufacturer didn't do this. There were a few more issues to be found. One of these was the 'Hafensperre', which was a good idea but poorly implemented in practice. He rarely remained locked up on a long transport. Also, when boarding a canoe, there wasn't a good way to keep the seat upright while pushing off the bank and lowering myself onto it. This was particularly annoying on days when the wind was strong and we had to get away from shore quickly. This thing will work great in front of the canoe. It would also be a great location for a stadium. In the end it was a mediocre fitment for my needs that didn't live up to my expectations. In other situations it can be great. Just not mine.
