I bought this Netgear Orbi Whole Home Mesh WiFi System in June 2020. I didn't know it wasn't an automatic firmware update, but I noticed it myself after going through a few firmware updates. After several hours trying to update the firmware for both the router and the satellites, I noticed that I can't update the components wirelessly, this has to be done with an ethernet cable connected to the router. How do you do that in a completely wireless household? The only possible wired device I could use would be a desktop on the 2nd floor of my apartment. I'd have to completely tear down the desktop and move it to the basement to do this with an ethernet cable! I also didn't realize how outdated the product I bought was until I installed it in my apartment. I'm not having much fun. I guess I have to destroy this system and start over. If you're buying a whole-home wireless system, make sure you can update the firmware over the air!
