They are great for zooming in to see distant objects in total darkness. They are ideal for police officers/soldiers who work at night. They are durable and can be operated with one hand. The fact that you can take photos/videos of them is a great advantage for collecting evidence or justifying your actions (see an armed subject, watch a suspect waiting, watch a burglar in action). All types of lights (traffic lights, street lamps, etc.) cause glare and affect your vision. This size is great for long distances, but not close-ups. If you want to see far, take it. If you want to see things in the garden, buy a different size.
