As an emergency tool it will work fine but leaves a lot to be desired. The ax is very blunt and requires a significant amount of sharpening before it can cut anything. Although the two-piece handle is compact, I would hesitate to use it to wield an ax or pickaxe with this handle. When the two parts of the grip are connected, the bolt holding them together protrudes from either side of the grip - right where your hand might slide when you're finishing the swing. Great concept but needs some design work.
