A home built in 2005 is renovated with ugly brown ceramic tiles in the kitchen, dining room, hallway, bathroom and laundry room. Tired (very quickly!) of using a 1" chisel on a pneumatic hammer to scrape all the thin layer stuck to the concrete slab off the slab as it needed to be smooth to install new vinyl plank flooring. We bought a rock drill, but the 1" chisel that came with it was just as slow as using a pneumatic hammer. Bought this 3" hole punch and yes it works great! Note: The 1" bit actually worked better for breaking/removing the old tile, but it wins when it comes to removing the adhesive "You can also just hit the tile with a hammer to break it and remove it. But you still have to remove that old flimsy set - and that sucks no matter what tool you have. But using this attachment is a lot less annoying than the others! It generates a lot of dust but not as much as using an angle grinder with a diamond blade. I just wish it was 4 or 5" wide instead of 3 because that would be even better! With this bit we have about 400 sq ft tiles away. While I think it could probably be sharpened and works a little better (this was done after a few hours) it still works MUCH better than anything we've tried h evening I even bought a 3 inch air hammer bit but it doesn't work as well as this one. The bottom line is that this works when you need to remove a pile of thin grout/grout from the slab where you removed the tile. It works great - better than any other solution we've tried. Just get it! You will not be disappointed!
