Review on SHIMANO PD M540 SPD Pedals Black by Travis Showcase

540 pedals are awesome! These are my first clipless pedals and I've been debating between platform versions or this one. Went with them because the shoes didn't touch the extra materials anyway. Not disappointed. After a few weeks of training, quick on and off is muscle memory and I appreciate the smaller footprint they take up. I didn't even adjust the tension on the spikes and they're pretty easy to put in and take out. Maybe I'll loosen it up a bit in the future to make it a lot easier. A lot of people recommend cleats that allow for multiple angle releases, I wouldn't do it. With a gentle pull, a simple external rotation of the ankle releases you easily and quickly. With polygonal rivets, too loose a fit will most likely result in too frequent loosening. These pedals also handle abuse well. Hit some big rocks while I was pedaling and no problem.
