Review on StarTech Com Port 10Gbps 3XUSB USB by Martin Alvarez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Adds multiple USB 3.2 ports (3 USBA and 1 USBC) to a relatively powerful machine.

I wanted to add 10GBe Ethernet to my laptop without reserving any of the Thunderbolt ports for this purpose. This is an industrial center. What does that mean? It comes in very sturdy packaging that doesn't look "pretty". Perfect for my purpose. I tested it on 3 machines: HP Pavilion with i7 10400F and 32GB RAM, Dell Prestige 5510 (Xeon E3-1505M V5, 32GB RAM) and Dell XPS 17 with i9-10885H, 64GB RAM with XPS 17 in as machine . I intend to use this device when connected to a 10Gbe network. A QNAP QNA-T310G1S was used as the network device. The first two machines couldn't reach 10Gbs, but when used exclusively, the speeds were a direct port hop, so there was no degradation. On the XPS 17 it could reach 10 Gbps and only slowed down when other ports were busy. To be honest, this was to be expected since the device is rated for 10Gbps, so it's convenient to have extra ports, and the Ethernet speeds only suffered when the other ports were under load. The device came with 3 international power cords and 2 international power cords. US outlets. Everything is connected to a universal power supply. Why 2 US cables? I do not know. Maybe they know I lose these things all the time. It also comes with a terminal block connector if you're installing it in an industrial environment that consumer hubs aren't equipped with. It also comes with a USB C to C cable with screw connectors to permanently connect the cable to the device and a USB A to C cable, also with screw connectors. Does it fit my purpose? yes, and more
