As we all know, the cost of replacing water purifiers seems to have skyrocketed in recent months (due to global resource shortages I believe). So I thought I'd try a much cheaper alternative, although I had my doubts. One thing I've noticed about my tap water is a pretty strong chlorine taste. This substitute (Overbest) did little (if at all) to reduce the taste of chlorine. For comparison, I invested in a branded filter from Pur and did a taste test. Pure eliminates the taste of chlorine. I can only assume that Overbest is marginally effective in other ways as well. It is impossible to determine the level of impurities in water without an ion chromatography instrument, but residual chlorine is one of the easiest ions to remove. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this replacement brand. During the stay at Pur.
