Heat control wobbles

First of all, this is not a bad product. It looks very solid and well made. It's not quiet, but it's very quiet at low speeds. I also really like the expandability โ€“ we decided to add additional cooling directly to our A/V receiver, which does not have built-in active cooling. Since you can only buy bare fans, it was significantly cheaper and controlling it with a smart controller was just a matter of plugging it in. Excellent! Unfortunately, this is not ideal. The price is a bit high for what you get but like I said it feels like a well made quality product. There is no real problem. The problem with "smart" controls is that they're actually pretty dumb. The idea is that it adjusts the fan speeds higher as temperatures rise, but the problem is that it wobbles REALLY annoyingly when your system can't find a spot that perfectly matches your system's heat output. What I mean is that if the temp gets too close to the set temp it will turn on for a few seconds and then turn off. Then it pops up again after a few seconds, then turns off, turns on, turns off, turns on, turns off, etc. As said, the fans are quiet, but not silent. The constant cycling makes it REALLY noticeable and very depressing. It won't be hard to fix either. It would be very useful to just make the algorithm a bit smarter. For example, if the system was on for at least five minutes, it would slow down cycling. Or let it cool a few degrees higher, but don't stop at the same temperature - cool a few degrees lower. You can find all of this in very simple home heating/cooling solutions, so they're not new. I just wish for such a good product, they do their homework a little better and make the "smart" system a little smarter. It also doesn't help that the thermostat is off between 5 and 10ยฐF. However, he's constantly knocked out by the same amount, so that part doesn't really matter. However, an option for temperature calibration would be nice.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Some bugs
