I haven't used this product yet but I've only read that a copper blade is the way to go. Let's see how he behaves in the next frost. Update: Having used this thing 4 times since I bought it, I have to say that it is no different from plastic, anyway it's more difficult to use on thick that form hard ice. Most of these reviews say one hit and it removes the entire length of the ice blade and I call *BS* maybe I could see if the ice is a super thin conglomeration of lungs. It does need a few scratches in the same place to get it all though, maybe as another reviewer said it's the flexing of the glass. But it doesn't work like a hot knife through butter. this is just not the case. Overall, the product will "scratch the ice", so it does what it promises very poorly. Skip it and buy one of the old hard plastic scrapers with built in "ice breakers", they seem to work way better than this style!
