I really wanted to like this car holder as it was exactly what I needed. I was hesitant to use the sticky pad but couldn't find a suction method that worked on my leather dashboard. I installed the sticky pad and followed the instructions so it "cured" within 72 hours. Unfortunately, it was IMMEDIATELY removed from the dashboard. And I also noticed that while my iPhone 8+ did fit in the mount, the mount was rotated to landscape which made it a bit unstable because the portrait foot is not adjustable at all. .The holder keeps my phone securely in the case. The first picture shows the FLAT surface of the dashboard where I installed it. The second shows the adhesive pad after it has come loose and the third shows the circled area. You can see a very narrow area actually sticking to the skin. I hope the photos help others with a similar leather dashboard.
