Review on πŸš— Camco 45401 Vinyl Tow Car Windshield Protector: Sleek Black Edition for Ultimate Protection by Aaron Richardson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good value for money

We tow an old Jeep Cherokee off the back of a 36 foot Class A car, sometimes driving on gravel roads or stopping at gravel roadsides. After a long drive from Alberta to the Northwest Territories, we noticed gravel on the hood and a windshield that started digging, even though both fenders were on the tires and a reinforced rubber protector was pulled over the back of the van. Since we don't particularly care about painting the jeep and we could protect the headlights with wire mesh, this was a great and inexpensive solution to protect the glass. a lid that folds over the top (so it doesn't dangle unnecessarily) and you can easily modify the included bungee cords. Go to a large hardware store and buy two fairly large S-shaped bungee hooks and a piece of foam. Windshield wiper tube insulation. Use a vise or large pliers to bend one side of each S hook into a loop. Align the cover to the vehicle, thread one end of the bungee cord through the top passenger side grommet, tie a simple knot at the end of the cord to keep it from being pulled through the grommet, and close the passenger side door. Approach the rider, thread the open end of the S-hook through the top sleeve, pull the elastic through the new end of the S-hook so the elastic stretches slightly, then tie a simple knot on the elastic, to prevent him from falling out of the S-hook. Repeat the process for the lower eyelets. Cut the insulation a few inches longer than the wipers. Put them on before attaching the lid to protect the blades (I got this tip from another post here on Revain). We used this on a trip where we had to put the cover on and off a few dozen times. and pretty happy with the results. Only 4 stars instead of 5 because the material around one of the seals is starting to crack and we will probably have to replace the cap once a year.

Pros

Cons
