This device works great if you don't put anything of any size in it. The jaws slide back when you unscrew them, but they don't slide all the way out of the hole. Just because the shaft looks small enough to fit the hole doesn't mean it will actually fit the nocks. However, this is not a major complaint; I bought this chuck to fit on the end of the extension so I can use smooth shank drill bits. I wasn't expecting to load big bits into it. So it serves its purpose well. You should always connect this chuck to the power drill before trying to tighten it, otherwise you won't get enough torque.
