Review on πŸ’» COOLHOOD Ultrawide Portable Monitor with 17.3" Screen, 1920X1080MP, 60Hz Refresh Rate, Blue Light Filter, and Super Thin Design by Brett Zerola

Revainrating 4 out of 5

There are still some image quality issues, but it's a lot better than most of the competition.

I'm hesitating between three and four stars for this, but in the end I only chose it because they finally have the right control over a portable monitor. Love the fact that they use multiple buttons instead of that awful toggle switch. However, it is important to know that the image quality achieves three stars at best. If you're a regular computer user you'll be fine, but if you're really into video then you won't like this monitor. And it's truly a portable monitor that can be used with a single cable. USB-C still needs to deliver power when using HDMI, but you can deliver power over a USB 3.0 cable. It's also a big beep and relatively thick compared to a laptop screen of the same size. But it's still in the portability realm, weighing just 2 pounds. It's like carrying a large tablet. It comes in a protective case that can be folded and used as a stand and works effectively for the most part. The screen is bright, which isn't always the case with portable monitors, but the issue I ran into again was color saturation. I don't know what's going on with all these portable monitors that have such poor color reproduction and seem to have a saturation problem. But even if you select all the settings, the colors don't come out as vividly as they do on the device you're powering. This way you always get a slight inconsistency in the image. But if you can handle it, it's a great and easy way to really extend your laptop's screen without having to lug around as much gear. As I said, I only give three stars for the picture quality, but I give four for the overall package. But really, I wouldn't get into image or video editing. I would use this screen to save all my toolbars and then use my laptop screen to work on the image. One day they will come out with a portable monitor that looks just as good, if not better, than your laptop screen, but this one isn't the same. You probably noticed that I didn't mention the speakers. Yes indeed
