Review on πŸ’» COOLHOOD Ultrawide Portable Monitor with 17.3" Screen, 1920X1080MP, 60Hz Refresh Rate, Blue Light Filter, and Super Thin Design by Peter Ali

Revainrating 4 out of 5

THIS IS HUGE - my new review

This is SO cool, I love huge screens (12.9 iPads, 16 MacBooks) but the 17.3 beats any backpack I have. So while it's lighter than my MacBook Pro, its size makes it pretty awkward to be portable. Where can I find a 17.5" backpack? That's why I'm giving 4 stars. I'm also giving 4 stars because the brightness isn't very bright. I would have liked a brighter screen. For comparison, that's about the fifth tick the brightness of my MacBook. Does the screen itself have an odd tint too? I know it's a blue light, but I'm a little concerned that it doesn't match the tone of my laptop. I've tried matching the screen calibrate but it didn't work. My laptop is lighter and creamier at the same time. I can't seem to figure out how to reproduce the creaminess (it can't be seen very well in the photo because it's only really noticeable when you're in are near).I finally figured out the buttons to adjust the screen options, but it's a little confusing and still doesn't change much.Another minor annoyance and justification g for the 4 stars I have for the screen is that while it's clearly not as good as my Apple screens (nor do I expect it to be), it has a somewhat grainy texture and look that draws me to it Reminiscent of 2014 Samsung tablets with one of those paper screen protectors. Or as a gigantic, bright, high-quality Nook. The interface is GREAT but even writing this review the text looks blurry/pixelated. Value over $200? I personally wouldn't buy. I would be somewhere between $110 and $180 mainly because of the quality of the screen. That's probably very biased because I tend towards matte screens and I'm an Apple kid. Despite my fussiness, I'm giving it 4 stars because the device makes me happy and that's the main thing. I will use it for better multitasking as well as watching anime [Update: I tried using the screen as a makeshift TV with a mini switch dock adapter and it was pretty slow. Significant latency, but I don't think the latency was that great without the adapter. So I think it works fine as long as you don't have a third party between what you are going to display.]
