An almost perfect 15 inch HD portable monitor!

The Coolhood 15.6-inch 1080P HDR IPS Portable Monitor is a great monitor for almost any use that doesn't require high quality audio at high volume. Such a thin body just can't deliver the high quality sound needed for music or other important audio signals. The maximum achievable volume is also somewhat lacking. This shouldn't be taken as a huge criticism of this excellent monitor. For almost any business need, such as meetings, spreadsheets, word processing, and even CAD work, audio should be more than adequate. Watching videos or films in a hotel room is fine. And you can always connect headphones or external speakers to eliminate audio limitations. The monitor comes in a very nice box that reminds me of the way Apple packs their products. Includes a standard power adapter and two 36" (0.9m) USB-C cables (one C/C for power/data, one C/A for power only). One 40" (1m) HDMI Cable is also included. I could not test the USB data cable (video/audio). I've only used them for power with an HDMI cable connected to one of my Linux systems. It would be great to use a USB C/C cable for both data and power as you only need one small cable! The adjustment button/roller on the side of the monitor allows you to adjust many settings of the monitor such as color balance, size, brightness, etc. The monitor is connected and synced to the computer, fine-tuned to 1920 x 1080 resolution, and works just as well as my 27-inch monitor for everything I've thrown at it. Colors were bright and clear, with no blurring in fast-moving scenes. Each of the two USB-C ports on the side of the monitor can be used to connect power and/or video/audio from a Thunderbolt 3 source to a USB 3.1 source, and there is a button on the monitor to toggle between the both switch sources. Most phones are unlikely to be able to deliver the required 5V at 3A (not for very long of course) and will therefore have to use one of the USB-C ports to power the included adapter. The user manual is detailed, showing and explaining all the components and I/Os, and providing connection examples for various devices such as computers, phones, game consoles, etc. Very well done. It also includes some monitor handling warnings that may not be obvious to new users of portable monitors. Do not use the Death Grip while handling or connecting cables to it. The manual includes six languages with a very clear English translation. While this is a very minor gripe, I found the manual to be quite physically challenging. It's a bit small and tightly bound, so skimming the pages may be an issue for some. The case is beautiful but minimalist. It protects the monitor when carried in the hand, in the laptop or in the travel bag. It "attaches" to the monitor with a magnet, allowing you to quickly remove it if necessary. I found using it as a stand can be problematic when used on a regular smooth table or countertop. The monitor has rubber bumpers on the bottom edge to prevent the monitor from slipping, but the thin edge of the lid folds up and rests on the table and tends to slide easily. If the viewing angle is close to vertical then this probably won't be a problem, but if you need to rotate it at a high angle you'll probably need a book, laptop case or something to keep the lid from slipping. Sitting on a non-smooth surface is absolutely no problem. My monitor's speakers are upside down when used for stereo, which normally shouldn't be a big deal, but is a problem for audio production use. This is probably a bit odd for movie soundtracks. There doesn't seem to be a way to flip L/R in the monitor, this needs to be addressed in the source. Didn't think to check if the problem persists when using an external audio output, but I expected it. For the price, the quality, and the features it offers, this monitor is hard to compare let alone beat. Whilst I received this add-on product for review, this is my honest opinion and I was in no way influenced by the Revain supplier or the fact that it was provided free of charge.
