My old 1930's grater rusted and sagged in the middle. This replacement is excellent. Crossing wires are welded at their intersections, as well as along the edges. The grater is slightly narrower than my old grater but offers better stiffness in the middle of the stitch. The wire cross-section is thicker than on my old device. The cutting edges of the wire are oriented to maximize friction as they move forward on the top surface and up on the bottom surface. Much faster than my old worn out device. Stainless steel constructions should last for decades. Good value for money. I make bohemian potato dumplings like my great-grandmother. Perfect results.
