Review on Efficient Cutting with Yonico 32216 SC 4 Inch Downcut Spiral Bit by Walter Martin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great nozzle, great price, correct use

This nozzle has quickly become my go-to nozzle for shallow cuts in wood or plastic when I want to avoid getting lint on the Surface remain (top pass and bottom blind cuts) from a plunge chisel. I don't think this short cut carbide drill can be any better at this price point. Someone mentioned that the racket broke while using it. This is clearly due to user error. It's a hole saw, so it can't cut blind _slots_ (of course I still do it in hardwood and polycarbonate, at .015" depth, 133 ipm, 29k compared to an upcut bit due to the more difficult chip evacuation, but it leaves a mark Make an excellent cut on the top surface as intended. You will likely end up with onion skins on the bottom layer of through cuts on the plastic so consider the compression bit (combination of up and down cutting) when you want a perfect finish like that on the top and bottom. And for heaven's sake, use a goddamn feed and speed assistant like GWizard, FSWizard or HSMAdvisor. Don't do that. Just throw it at your rotary tool and graze it into the material and complain, if it breaks, mills must chew through the material under reasonable stress, and cemented carbide will not bend like high-speed steel, if you overload it - it breaks.

Pros
  • For use on CNC machines, benchtop and hand routers
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
