Some needle ends are broken. I'm not sure if they can be replaced. The tips could be a bit sharper. In some cases they are flat. Almost level. I brought them the sanding board. And sharpened them. It was relatively easy. The needles themselves are a bit "sticky". I "sealed" everything by rubbing some beeswax along the shaft of the needle and then buffing it with wax paper. This made them nice and smooth. The stitches don't slip off on their own, which is actually helpful for little learners. With a little TLC are the actually quite decent needles. I wish the beads weren't so rough on the ends. If you want to try knitting and don't want to spend a lot of money or give to a small child, it works fine.
