Review on Hyde 09170 Drywall Vacuum Sander by John Ruelas

This grinder sucks

The grinder looks harmless out of the box. Looks like a standard grinder with the addition of vacuum tube attachments. The preparation is the same as with any commercial grinder. The grips that hold the sanding pads in place are easy to use and use a mechanical compression grip to grip and hold the sanding pad in place. You pay. I was expecting some flimsy plastic junk to be "good enough" but was pleasantly surprised. Everything is fine until you hang it on the wall and try to use it for its intended purpose. doesn't have much recoil and can cause your pad to miss your surface. A vacuum is counterproductive. If you're using a standard-sized vacuum from a larger store, it just has too much suction. This suction forces the pad against the surface and semi-permanently attaches it to it. No hard pressing will make it move smoothly, pulling works intermittently. I screwed up a crisp new edge with this when trying to push it away from my body, and the suction and rubber pad bounced the pillow so hard on the surface that it tipped onto the pillow's side. Now I need to fix the edge of the wall AGAIN. If you already bought this and hate it as much as I do, use it as a hand sander. He did a great job with all the screws and patches I could get my hands on and he did a great job sanding down the plaster putty too. Your back and your wallet will thank you in a few hours.
