I bought this adapter for a trip to China/Asia and it was essential. Not only the voltage is different (220V 50Hz China and 120V 60Hz USA), China uses THREE different types of plugs: US-style double-blade plug, EU/UK-style double-blade plug and double-ended blade plug. in Australia and New Zealand. Fortunately, this adapter is able to solve both the voltage problem and all three plugs. The adapter has plugs for US, EU, and AU pins so I could find power no matter what outlet I encountered. Additionally, the onboard USB ports allowed me to charge multiple devices at the same time and allowed me to keep the large rear outlets for laptops instead of using them for USB power supplies for phones and cameras. I also had a previous older version of this adapter and found this new updated version to be slightly smaller with USB ports which is great for travel. However, the adapter is not without disadvantages. One issue that is common to both the old and new versions is that the forks are not well made and the fork pins are difficult to engage and retract. Often the pins get stuck and the mechanisms for engaging and retracting the pins get stuck and you have to wiggle them to get them working again. Since there are so many plugs in the adapter, I can understand that the mechanism to turn it on is overly complicated and prone to breakage. This new version has a retract/release button, but even that isn't always perfect. The movement doesn't appear to be designed to tight tolerances, or the materials used flex or move too much to be stable. The USB connectors were also too tight and my USB cables got stuck and took a lot of effort to untie. Overall, while the mechanisms often get stuck, they work, albeit with some frustration.
