This timer is advertised for kitchens, home offices etc. I would vote for using it in environments other than the kitchen. Unless your kitchen is very quiet when cooking/baking. The numbers are big, the numbers stay visible all the time and don't go out to save battery power. A very big plus compared to many other alarm clocks where you can't tell how many minutes are left unless you go to the clock and press it. every time I also like that it remembers the last alarm clock. So if you have a regular alarm clock, all you have to do is start/stop. It is very easy to set up and use different modes. But the decibel alarm level is low. If you have a noisy kitchen, fan, range hood, oven fan, if you don't stand by it, you won't be able to hear it. And I haven't found a way to increase the volume.
