I would recommend only using on a wooden seat. This loop is of very good quality. Installation is not difficult, but requires some patience. First install the frame screws in the toilet. In fact, these are your only two fixed points of reference. Second, install the crossmember through the strut bolts. The lid hinge mounts fit in the center of the stem between the tank posts, and the seat hinge mounts hold the end of the crossbar in place. Third, you must decide for yourself how to center and align the old toilet seat with the toilet. This should be centered on the left and right sides of the bowl. Also make sure that the seat does not protrude too far forward or too far back. Basically you have to be a little artistic to center everything. Fourth, I removed all the parts and assembled them on my workbench. I could not install the screws for the seat when the swivel was mounted on the toilet. It was much easier on the table. Insert the seat bolts into the mounting brackets. Make sure you center the left and right brackets and keep the crossbar about 1/4 inch parallel to the seat back. The screws did not match my old hinge. Be careful not to drill through the thin part. Seats or covers, otherwise the screws will come through. Fifth, I installed the seat and rod on the toilet. Sixth, to install the lid, I placed a small piece of wood under the lid as a spacer to line the lid. when attaching the screws. Again, the new screws didn't match the old holes. I filled the old holes with wood spatula. Indeed it was. further. This will prevent the seat from sliding from side to side. The crossbar was wider than I expected. I didn't notice this until I installed the seat swivel mounts. Ideally I would cut the crossbar about 1/4" shorter. This will keep the seat from sliding side to side. One remedy, as mentioned, is to spread the seat pivot brackets as wide as possible before attaching the seat .Update # After about a month the chrome plating is peeling off I suspect it is caused by the toilet cleaners (Lysol).
