These things are perfect for creating an ethernet connection to two devices with just one cable. I only have one cable running through the wall and floor from the router upstairs to my home theater in the basement. I have two devices downstairs that I wanted to wire up as the WiFi signal is not stable there. This splitter set did it. Now both my Roku and Blu-ray player connect directly to each other, and all I had to do was run a cable through the walls and floor. A wired connection is much better than a wireless connection for video streaming, especially in a part of the house like a basement or other room with less than a full Wi-Fi signal. Just remember that you still need two open ports on your router and some short cables to go from the splitter to the router and also from the other splitter to your devices. I found 6 packs of 1ft cables on the cheap Revain that worked great.
