the remote control is useless. It works to power the light on and off about 5% of the time, but I've never gotten it to control the brightness or change the temp/color. I can control the lamp three other ways but sometimes I simply want to pick up the remote and change the brightness or just turn it off. Maybe I just got unlucky but it's pretty annoying.As far as controlling the lamp via other methods, Google Assistant gives you limited control, but the app gives you much more control. The app is actually pretty good and gives you a lot of preset scenes as well as options to customize the color and even set a schedule.The light itself works very well. The colored LED is only on the top of the lamp, not the main light, but that actually casts a pretty cool glow around the edges of the ceiling. The main lamp gets very bright and lights up an average bedroom with ease.Also, I made a point to order the newest version that added Google Assistant support. The light I received had the old box. Google Assistant recognizes the light, but I'm still not sure I got the one I ordered.**Edit** I forgot to include this in the original review but it happened last night and it reminded me. The light will turn itself on two or three times a night. I wake up in bed and can see light in the hallway, then I tell Google to turn it off and it does. But I might wake up an hour or two later and it's on again. I don't have any timers or schedules set up on the light.The light was very easy to install. I'm not very handy with this kind of stuff but I managed to do it on my own without any major injury.****Update**** the remote continues to be pretty useless but I've learned that holding it up in the air, close to the lamp, improves the success rate to about 1 out of 5 clicks registering.The light kept losing it's connection to Google, so I'd go to the Taloya app only to find that it was also offline there. I'd reset the lamp and re-connect to the Taloya app, and then re-link my Taloya account to Google Assistant, but the lamp doesn't stay connected for more than a day or so. I've given up on voice control through Google Home and have resigned myself to just cursing as I click the remote control.
