Takes some getting used to, but allows for clear focus very close to the subject. I wish the dial was a little less sensitive, more room to focus would make things easier. Overall good value for money. The app is in the Google Play Store under HVViewing, the QR code didn't work for me. Connected via WiFi, seems to work better on a tablet without a data plan. The big screen is better too. Turn on the tablet and camera (press and hold for 2 seconds until the blue light comes on), go to the tablet's Wi-Fi settings and connect to the camera. Go to the HV app and select the microscope. Allow the camera to remain connected without an internet connection. That said, but you have to do it every time as far as I can understand. I have a very cheap tablet so a higher quality brand might store connection information. Adjust the focus wheel, it can be very sensitive, rotate the screen in the app upside down (up/down) or vice versa (normal or mirrored image), physically rotate the camera for an even view and screen plane (move the subject up and the screen should reflect the subject when you go up, right or left, use a coin as it is easy to distinguish up and down). Use the dial on the camera to focus, it shows near or far objects as you choose. The closer, the clearer, but the field of view is smaller. The stand is ok but much better when I attached the base to a small block of wood, a 4x4 square and a 3m command bar to provide stability. I plan to add a cord holder so the weight of the power cord doesn't affect it. The camera's battery life is good, at least 30 minutes at full light output. I didn't time it. The battery icon on the camera screen is much appreciated. Sometimes freezes randomly and doesn't respond to the power button. Using a thin wire, gently press the reset button, turn it on and reconnect. My phone sim key is perfect. Stick it or a small paperclip to the camera or stand with tape. Freezes 8/10 applications but I leave it on for a few hours, crashes on average every 6 hours I've been using it. Overall super happy for the price. Once you get past the learning curve, it won't be a big deal. If you can't afford an expensive camera or just want to try it before making a big purchase, then this is a good first USB microscope. No toy. A camera 2 inches from a new clean penny allows you to count steps on the Lincoln Memorial or see Lincoln's eyelashes. The fabric shows individual fibers. Loses detail the further away the subject is, but that's okay. Eventually I may update but it works better than expected.
