Review on 🔧 Dorman 600-801 Transfer Case Motor: Upgraded Performance for Ford Models by Rodney Nelson

got the job done

My 1993 Ford Bronco XLT would not go into 4WD. When I pushed the electronic button to engage the four-wheel drive, all I could hear was a click from behind the passenger-side dash. I climbed under the truck, tapped the driveway with a rubber mallet, and tried to dislodge it, but to no avail. I tried the 4WD button again and this time it was a series of 4-5 clicks behind the passenger dash. I replaced the old actuator with this Dorman and so far so good. Installation is easy - unscrew the 4 bolts that attach the motor to the rear of the transfer case. Then disconnect the cable connectors. To remove the drive connector from the flat metal retaining bracket you may need to unscrew the bracket to get a screwdriver on the back to pry out the electrical connector (there is a latch associated with the bracket). There's a catch here - even after disconnecting the connector from the transfer case connector, there are still three wires connected to the actuator connector. I decided to cut three wires, strip the ends and replace the terminal blocks with new ones. I did this because I couldn't remove the terminal connections from the old drive connector. The only other way to do this is to pull the terminal all the way through the old connector, disconnect the existing terminal connectors from the wires with needle nose pliers, remove the wires from the connector without the terminal connectors, and insert the new terminal connectors. However, I'm not very experienced with cars and this replacement was easy to make and solved my problem. So far the actuator is working great and I haven't had any problems.
