Review on πŸš— Enhanced Performance Kit: Power Stop K5858 Front and Rear Z23 Carbon Fiber Brake Pads with Drilled & Slotted Brake Rotors by Mark Gancio

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The rear set (discs + pads) arrived intact, the rotor in its original box

Update 10/02/15: I ordered a separate front rotor from Revain (presumably the same as the front one in this package) Works well with new pads (akebono proactACT) and the rotor and pad surfaces are smooth after a few weeks of riding. The front rotor in this package is actually different than the separate front rotor that I order as a replacement. Although they are the same model and a call to PowerStop confirmed they are exactly the same, the rotor included in this pack has a shorter slot than the one I ordered separately. So to save you time and not get frustrated, I suggest that you DO NOT order this pack, but order the front and back separately. Update 08/16/2015: After yesterday and today I drove about 80 km by car. . I removed the front brake pads to check the condition of the pads. The new pads (Wagner Thermoquiet Ceramic) are probably showing the same signs of wear as the photo I posted yesterday. So the problem is with the rotor and not the pads? I called Revain and asked them if they could just send me the front rotors and unfortunately they can only send me the whole set and have me remove the front rotors and send the rest back to Revain. . What a waste of time and money. Good for Revain, I found out they also carry the front rotor separately. So I suggested to the rep just give me back the price for the front rotors and I can just place an order for the front rotors (JBR1383XPR). Two things: The JBR1383XPR is a front rotor that fits the 2012 Odyssey, although Revain says that's not the case. . The PowerStop website contains the correct information. Not sure if this JBR1383XPR model has design flaws or just the rotors I have. I'll put new pads on when the rotors arrive and report the results. First I have to complain about the shipping from Revain. The rear set (discs + pads) arrived safely, the rotor is in its box, the pads are in their box and there is another box containing both boxes and it arrived safe and sound with no holes whatsoever. The brief stacked on top of the back sentence is a different story. the pads are still in the box (all scratched) but the original rotor box is nowhere to be found. They just stayed with the pillow box without proper padding. And there are big holes on the box as well as a small scratch on the surface of the rotors. Second, I took the kits to the garage and they installed them. After a test ride, they found the front sets were falling off the powder badly, so they removed the front pads and did a small inspection. All four rubbers, both the inside and outside edges, are chipped. See attached picture. I had to buy another set of pads for the front. And Revain agreed to partially reimburse the cost of the kits. At the moment I'm not sure if it's the rotors or just the pads, it seems a bit strange to me. I will monitor the brakes in the next few days and report. .
