Review on NEXPEAK OBD2 Scanner | Car Diagnostic Tool | Engine Code Reader | Automotive Emissions Analyzer by Jonah Riggle

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Reading is basic

Comes with a 27 page instruction manual…….HOW FUN. My brain shut down immediately. Then we just plugged it into a small socket :-) and let it do what it needs. So that's the easy part. The hard part was figuring out the codes, which are easy to google in cheat sheet form. Firstly I have a 2008 car and before I used it (one day) the check engine light wasn't on and the next day the check engine light suddenly comes on which is ODD (true story). I don't know if he discovered something or created something. So no, we're really trying to figure things out. The device is really light and feels like a hollow toy from the first touch. I wish it had a back button. I tried dimming the screen and wanted to go back to compare the previous screen but it only has a scroll down button so I had to stop the loop which is a bit annoying (very annoying actually) but it only has two buttons what is a plus. It's not a bad gadget, it just takes patience to get through the trial and error parts. It is extremely helpful to read, read, read the booklet first. The device is easy to use if you mean just plugging it in. The difficulty lies in interpreting the input that the device gives you. Keep in mind that the manual is 27 pages long for a reason.

Pros
  • ➤ READING CODES: As a portable OBD2 scanner, the NX201 is easy to use even you are a new user. Plug it into your car's OBD2 socket, type "Read Codes", it will display error codes and definitions directly on the screen. You don't have to search the internet.
Cons
  • Doubtful
