I bought this kit to punch 1/2" neoprene and 1/5" felt into 1" circles. They are glued together to make the stops for the organ console pedal I restore. The blows are strong, sharp and hold well. However, two things are important for optimal application: 1) Use a rubber mallet. You need the mass of the hammer to be effective. A hammer makes the job easier 2) Hit your fist on a piece of wood on a hard, immovable surface. I use a sheet of plywood for concrete. One tree isn't enough. If it's on a table or metal workbench or something, there's still too much flexing pads in reverse osmosis water, shake off excess and freeze. This made the felt stiff enough to pass through effectively strike. Then just wait for the result to melt/dry. Dissatisfaction arises from a cheap plastic bag in which racquets are sold. A canvas bag is much better. The plastic doesn't hold up well.
