Do not pre-purchase this product. Here's why: I've tried setting up this device on a Mac Air, but to no avail! Here's my story: I activated Time Machine and it recognized the GoFlex drive. Then he asked me for a password which I have no idea what it is. Is this the password for my wireless router? Come on! it should be the GoFlex password. ok what to do As you know, the Mac Air does not have a CD drive. I could not set up with the CD. I read the QUICK installation guide and it says: If you don't have a CD drive, go to the web address [.]. There are several videos to watch and good explanations but no solution for what I have. I need the default password for the device. Where can I find the damn password? Then I read the user manual pdf on this website, it says the same thing. If you don't have a CD-ROM, blah blah. Go to this page and download the installation software! Yes, software installation. OK. Good. I found a download link on the same page, went there and clicked the "FreeAgent GoFlex Software for FreeAgent GoFlex Home in case you lost the installation CD" link. Well! that's exactly what i'm looking for. I'm here, this is from the download page: -- More info. Note. If you have uninstalled the software and need software to replace your hard drive, contact Seagate Technical Support via email. Important: Include your drive serial number and mailing address when contacting Technical Support. The software is provided as a dedicated download link in the reply email. Procedure For Mac and Windows users: To install GoFlex Home on a new system, insert the installation CD and follow the prompts. If the CD does not auto-play, navigate to your CD drive and double-click the icon to begin the installation process. - That's shocking. I need to contact them to get a replacement software via email. Oh God! Give me a break! That is my experience. Now it's your turn to buy this product or not. By the way, I decided to return the product because sending it back is faster than getting a replacement software.
