Review on Enhance Precision Work with the Steelex M1077 4-Inch Rotary Table and Divider Plates by Doug Bundy

This turntable is far from perfect, but mine works well enough and is inexpensive. As another review says, the quality control is poor. Although after careful disassembly, cleaning of all heavy resins and simple mechanical deposits and dirt, grinding rough surfaces, removing burrs, replacing bad fasteners where necessary, rethreading where necessary, wire brushing for gears, lubricating with oil, reassembly and correct tuning, It does what it's supposed to do without sticking, excessive drag, or excessive play/slack. Having purchased this type of Chinese product before, none of the rework was unexpected, although perhaps a little more than usual with this table. All in all I spent probably 3 hours of manual work on it. I consider this the fairness of sweat. The cutting of the ring and worm gears on mine is barely good enough to get it working properly, anything worse would likely cause the previous reviewer's sticking issue and result in me returning the block. I can't imagine in which plant it happened, maybe it was seconds. Now the block has about 1/2 degree play in the worst part of the circle and essentially no play at best. None of this is a problem as long as you're moving in the same direction. As a precaution against possible sloppiness, I block it after each draw and before cutting, which is easy enough. My split plate/sector lever system works well, although the handle sometimes needs some adjustment to fit the hole properly, again no problem. I use it on a mini grinder and it works great for that. Don't expect machine shop quality equipment. I see no point in spending more on a turntable than a grinder, so that suits me. This thing is solid cast iron and after my rebuild it should last me a lifetime. I'm not disappointed in the slightest, but if you want something that works out of the box, you'll need to spend more money elsewhere.
