Since all the materials in the package except for the actual dimming unit were new I can only assume seller repackaged a returned unit.That said, I have purchased six of the same unit under different names and the failure rate has been about 20%. I purchased this unit to replace a 3 month old unit that just failed. If starting over again I would look for a different design/type. However the wifi/Alexa selection is rather limited.
