Just received these because a parasite stole my old Stanley dams. The Stanleys were 7-1/2" so a little smaller, but still a good pair of pliers. As good as the Stanleys are, these 9-1/2" beasts are a step up. I just got some steel bars and Disassembled sheet metal that is riveted together. At first I wanted to drill out 1/4" rivets, and then I remembered my new dams. Let me try! These things ripped off the tops of the rivets like butter and bent the sheet metal with ease The arched jaws really help you with your prying. Oh, and these pliers cut wire without hesitation. The nail heads are gone. I cut through a few things to see how they would work. Anything thin was no problem, the thicker the more effort required but if arms are strong enough it will cut.I've tried spring wire around .075 no problem.I don't think cutting thicker spring steel is a good idea but according to the catalog you can use stiff wire from .047 to .047 Cut 0.091 A In any case, after my trial and error, they still cut paper perfectly, and the jaws show no sign of nicks, etc. Even the thinnest strands and twine leave no stragglers. just a clean cut! These might not be the most elegant of pliers, but these bad boys are tough and inexpensive. and i love those words. Made in the USA.
